Physical Assessments

Here are a couple physical assessments to test out with your athletes to see if they have some of the fundamental physical pre-requisites to hit hard with less pain. If they do not, incorporating the exercises below into their pre-training prep or assign it as “homework” for them to be completing at home so they have adequate physical ability to hit hard with efficient patterns!

ARM SWING DRILLS

This phase progresses through a variety of exercises and drills to get the body ready to master 3 keys for a powerful arm swing: rotation, looseness, and low draw back.

Here is a simplified version of how we would progress athletes at the start of practices. Beginning with some throwing and attacking patterns on the ground and then progressing to approach throws. After approach throws as you know from our presentation, spin serves, attacks off a setter, or anything similar would be applied next!

Volleyball Clubs (Juniors 12U-18U)

We Partner up with clubs across North America to work with both their coaches and athletes towards hitting harder with less pain!

Coaches

  • Coaches workshop connecting a deep understanding of the theory into practical application.

  • This is followed up by club access into our Arm Swing Academy for Coaches for our library of physical and technical drills to improve the arm swing!

Athletes

  • Full practice sessions devoted to rebuilding the arm swing from the ground up.

  • Physical assessments and exercises to unlock more freedom of movement in athletes bodies so we can get more out of the technical work to follow.

  • Throwing patterns building into spike serving and attacking progressions with mini-game play at the end. Guiding athletes towards success in the new pattern every step of the way to create actual changes in their arm swings.

  • The ENTIRE session is devoted to workshopping the arm swing from a process oriented lens. This alone is something athletes rave about, the time to not just change their arm swing by 1% but the space to completely overhaul their arm swings.

  • Clinics are followed up with resources designed to help athletes continue to make changes all season long!

Supporting you, your staff, and your athletes.

Our main goal is to support you in the way that you’re the most in need of our support. We don’t have a cookie cutter, one size fits all recipe that we travel around with. By getting to know your team, your goals and what resources you have access to we will come up with a solution that will deliver effective changes.

Typically our support begins with an immersive in-person experience over 1-3 days. During this time we work on and off the court with the team all together, in small groups, or in 1-on-1 situations. We get to know you and your support staff better, and work together to come up with solutions that will work for your program moving forwards.

We are usually brought in to accomplish either one or both of these goals:

  1. More arm swing velocity amongst attackers and spin servers.

  2. Better longevity and availability so athletes are healthy even at the end of long seasons.

Depending on your needs we may set up follow-up in-person experiences or virtual support for you and your athletes. Whenever possible this is the ideal set up as we know things come up, things change, and continued check-in points throughout a long season sustain the momentum of change!
