The Right Workout Program For You

We have an arm swing focused workout program to fit your needs! Our workouts are designed to be shorter than your common 1-1.5 hour long workouts so you can push hard more frequently and spend more time on-court!


Beginner

WHO

This is designed for younger volleyball athletes that are looking to hit the ball harder.

WHAT

The Beginner program teaches you fundamental movements and develops the basics of strength to prepare your body for the demands of volleyball.

LOGISTICS

Equipment Needed: Pull-up bar, Resistance Bands, Medicine Ball

Length: 12 weeks long

Schedule: 3 workouts per week that will take 15-20 minutes to complete

Workouts: Linear Strength, Rotational Strength, Lower Body Strength and Power

After you’re done your 12 weeks, we would recommend you go into the Minimalist program to progress!

Essentials

WHO

This is our staple program designed for volleyball players who have some strength training experience and have access to a weight room.

WHAT

The Essentials is our most comprehensive program to unlock more velocity with less pain.

LOGISTICS

Equipment Needed: Typical weight room (pull-up bar, resistance bands, medicine ball, free weights, bench, etc.)

Length: 12 Weeks long 

Schedule: 4 workouts per week that will take 30 minutes to complete plus 2 ”Recharge” sessions per week

BONUS: If you want this to be your full workout routine we have a Lower Body Add-on for the Essentials to round out your program!

  • Day 1: Shoulder Glue (developing robust shoulders and rotator cuffs)

    Day 2: Torque (unlocking more freedom and power through rotational patterns)

    Day 3: Recharge (slow down and take care of the body and tissues)

    Day 4: Gymnastics Strength (working towards being as strong as gymnasts while moving with the flow of breakdancers)

    Day 5: Torque

Vitamins

WHO

This program is designed for volleyball players who are already doing a strength and conditioning routine with their team or on their own but want to make sure they prioritize their arm swing!

WHAT

The Vitamins program consists of short workout sessions with our favourite exercises so we can be extremely efficient within your busy schedule. These are designed to be tagged onto the start or end of your practice or workout or completed on their own at a separate time.

LOGISTICS

Equipment Needed: Typical weight room (pull-up bar, resistance bands, medicine ball, free weights, bench, etc.)

Length: 12 weeks long

Schedule: 6 short workouts per week that will take 10 minutes to complete

  • Day 1: Overhead Strength #1 (exposing you to all the strength you’ll need with your hands reaching above you)

    Day 2: Torque #1 (unlocking more freedom and power through rotational patterns)

    Day 3: Gymnastics Strength #1 (working towards being as strong as gymnasts while moving with the flow of breakdancers)

    Day 4: Overhead Strength #2 (exposing you to all the strength you’ll need with your hands reaching above you)

    Day 5: Torque #2 (unlocking more freedom and power through rotational patterns)

Minimalist

WHO

This program is designed for volleyball players who want to workout at home.

WHAT

The Minimalist program will make use of your limited equipment to drive more efficient and powerful movement so you can increase your velocity and longevity

LOGISTICS

Equipment Needed: pull-up bar, resistance bands, medicine ball

Length: 12 weeks long 

Schedule: 4 workouts per week that will take 20-30 minutes to complete 

BONUS: If you want this to be your full workout routine we have a Lower Body Add-on for the Minimalist program to make it complete!

  • Day 1: Rotation (unlocking more freedom and power through rotational patterns)

    Day 2: Overhead Strength (exposing you to all the strength you’ll need with your hands reaching above you)

    Day 3: Off

    Day 4: Rotation

    Day 5: Horizontal Strength (getting super strong with your hands on the ground)

FAQ

  • Many of our athletes have traditional strength & conditioning programs that they follow while in the Arm Swing Academy. The way we train the shoulder, spine, and ribcage are quite different from the usual strength and conditioning approach, and is very targeted at results that transfer directly into attacking velocity and shoulder health. This is where the Vitamins program comes in - it gives you everything you need and is meant to be combined with a traditional strength program.

  • Fortunately we don’t come across this very often - but if after 4 weeks of doing the workouts and technique drills you don’t feel improvements in your attacking, we’ll give you a full refund! We’ll also help you problem solve as to why you might not be seeing results - because we assume you’ll still want to improve!

  • Vitamins workouts are the quickest and take around 10 minutes.

    Beginner workouts take around 20 minutes.

    Essentials and Minimalist workouts take around 20-30 minutes.

    Sessions where you are working on your technique (throwing and attacking) are designed to be done on-court before or after your volleyball practices and take around 5-10 minutes.

  • As soon as you’re interested in starting to do things other than playing volleyball to get better at volleyball, the Arm Swing Academy can help! Usually the youngest athletes we see are around 12 years old, and we have programs built specifically to be accessible and safe for that age.

    On the other end of the spectrum, there’s no age limit to seeing benefits from the workouts and technique drills in the Academy. In fact often later in the volleyball career-span is where inefficient patterns start to show their impact, and injuries can pop up. Our workouts and drills can make a big difference in how you feel at that point, and stop any injuries from progressing further when you play.

  • No problem! You want to have a little bit of experience under your belt so you have a good idea of the demands that go into attacking, but really the sooner that you learn the technique concepts and build your base of strength and mobility, the easier it will be to pick up skill on court.

  • On the platform there is an “Inbox” tab that when you message on there it goes straight to our coaches. Any time you have a question you can send us a message and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours (expect a bit longer wait on weekends).

    What if I need extra help beyond the chat?

    If there’s something we can’t solve over chat and some simple changes to your program, there’s always the option to upgrade to a Virtual 1-on-1 sessions to dive deeper into assessment and video analysis of your form and technique.

  • We get that sometimes the life of an athlete gets busy and you can’t fit in everything you’d like to do. If you end up canceling your membership you will no longer have access to the Arm Swing Academy resources and program. If this is the case for you we encourage you to follow us on instagram to continue learning more ways to change your arm swing!

  • You have a couple options based off what program you are in:

    • Go back through your program a second time

    • If you completed the Beginner program: progress to the minimalist program next and then to the Essentials or Vitamins after that.

    • If you completed the Essentials program: progress to Essentials Level 2 or switch it up and try the Vitamins or Minimalist programs.

    • If you completed the Vitamins program: and you aren’t following a separate workout program anymore, feel free to join the Minimalist or Essentials program next.

    • If you completed the Minimalist program: and now have access to more equipment you can switch over to the Vitamins or Essentials program next.

  • We are ALWAYS learning and finding new and more efficient ways to make changes to the arm swing. So as we do, you will be the first to see them in existing and new programs.

    We also will continue to release new programs based on the needs and wants of our athletes. So let us know in the Academy what you are looking for and we will add it to the que of new programs to be released!

  • Yes and no. Our Arm Swing coaches will be present on the app to help with any questions you have and analyze your arm swing videos you send in and provide feedback on how to make technical changes based off your current patterns.

    If you need lots of customizations to the workouts or exercises we are more than happy to help you through the chat function on the platform. But if you need something very customized built out for you, we would direct you towards our 1-on-1 coaching which is separate from the Academy.

  • On the Arm Swing Academy you’ll find a calendar with your workouts for the week clearly laid out. You can click ahead to see what’s coming up and rearrange the workouts to better fit your weekly schedule. To rearrange your workouts so they better match your weeks schedule just head to the “Coaching” icon, click on the “Training” calendar, click on the rearrange arrows on the top right and shuffle things around!

    The workouts will have videos, explanations, reps, sets, etc. all included so all you have to do is follow along!

  • Our Essentials and Vitamins program require a basic weight room while our Beginner and Minimalist program require a pull-up bar, resistance bands and a medicine ball.

  • Most often within the first couple of weeks athletes notice that they can hit the ball harder, with less effort. They also commonly report that it feels like less work for their shoulder, and shoulder pain decreases!

    Of course the longer you’re in the program and the more consistent you are, typically the bigger changes you will be able to unlock.

  • No worries. This is a super common issue in volleyball, and the Arm Swing Academy workouts and technique drills are designed to get you stronger and more efficient so you have less pain. Our workouts and drills can be modified if you’re in pain. The first step to this is reducing the amount of movement in the exercise. For example if the bottom of a push-up causes you pain, don’t go all the way into the bottom position to start. The second step if that isn’t enough is to reach out in the academy and let us know what exercises are causing you discomfort and send us a video of you performing them so we can see what changes we can make.

    The exception to this is a recent acute injury like a shoulder subluxation or dislocation, or an acute back injury that stops you from playing volleyball. Essentially if you can play volleyball, you’ll be fine in the Arm Swing Academy, but if you’re in too much pain to play, you might do better starting with our 1-on-1 services where we can customize things for you based off of a more thorough assessment.

The Recipe for Creating Arm Swing Changes

When approaching the arm swing as not only a technical change but also a physical and mental, EVERYONE can make changes.

Our unique approach is rooted in our extensive volleyball and movement science backgrounds combined with thorough research into other overhead sports.

Early on, experienced coaches approached us with athletes struggling to make progress. We discovered that attempts to effect change were confined to the parameters of a typical volleyball practice. So, we expanded our approach, enhancing athletes’ movement efficiency and power off the court, then seamlessly integrating these newfound physical abilities with simple changes to their on-court patterns.

Throughout this process, we educated the athlete on the ‘why’, encouraged deliberate practice and promoted patience. The results were astounding—every athlete previously deemed “unchangeable” experienced transformation. It’s not a critique of the athletes or coaches that were attempting to make changes; it’s an acknowledgement that sometimes, attention off the court, a focus on mindset and breaking down technical patterns into their simplest form are essential.

Using this approach we’ve witnessed remarkable results: athletes gaining 10km/h in just 30 minutes, college teams boosting their average velocity by 13km/h without working with them on-court, and academy members increasing their velocity by 15km/h while playing pain-free for the first time in years. From beginners to seasoned professionals, our approach has yielded tangible improvements.

ABOUT US

Meet Nick Del Bianco and Mischa Harris, the dynamic duo behind our revolutionary approach to training the Arm Swing. They have over two decades of combined experience working with athletes on and off the court, and over 15 years of honing their skills playing volleyball at the provincial, university, national team, and professional levels—both indoors and on the sand.

Nick and Mischa aren't your average coaches—they're the go-to "Arm Swing Guys" for NOEZYBUCKETS, consult with University programs across Canada and work closely with players at the national team and professional levels worldwide. Drawing on their expertise in both volleyball and movement science, they deliver an integrated approach to revolutionizing arm swings.

Their mission was ignited by 2 realizations:

  1. Too many volleyball players were suffering from largely preventable knee, low back, and shoulder injuries. It was becoming the norm that if you played volleyball, you would have one or all of these injuries.

  2. They noticed a glaring gap in how the arm swing was trained, or in most cases in how the arm swing wasn’t trained, even amongst the sport’s elite.
